Profile

Yunong Gu is a native of Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, China. He received his B.A. and M.A. in archaeology from the Department of Archaeology and Museology at Peking University. When he was in Peking University, he excavated several sites of the Neolithic and the Bronze Age, such as Pingliangtai, Henan Province; Zhouyuan, Shanxi Province; Qufu and Linzi, Shandong Province. Besides, he also participated in studying the remains found in a Bone Workshop in Xinzheng, Henan Province. Yunong Gu was mainly interested in researching the economy of Late Bronze Age China. His research included the economic role of animals, craft specialization, and trade. At UCLA, he was looking forward to learning more about the archaeology of East Asia, as well as the knowledge of other civilizations.
